Owens Corning Gutter Replacement: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

We install Owens Corning-compatible gutter replacement in Los Angeles every week, and a typical run of 30 to 40 linear feet runs $1,200 to $2,400 installed, including new hangers, sealed corners, and haul-away of the old material. Most homeowners find out their gutters have failed the hard way: a dry-rot patch on the fascia board, a puddle against the foundation after an El Niño rain, or a section that pulls loose during a Santa Ana wind. You’ll know the part needs replacing when sealant keeps reappearing on your to-do list and the gutter joints look like a roadmap of old patches.

Which Owens Corning Models This Applies To

Owens Corning doesn’t manufacture gutters under its own brand the way it makes shingles, so when we say “Owens Corning gutter replacement” in Los Angeles, we’re almost always talking about gutters installed as part of an Owens Corning roofing system: the gutters that tie into Owens Corning drip edge, OCDC (Owens Corning Decking and Components), or the company’s engineered soffit and fascia lines. The real compatibility question is the profile and the gauge. We see 5-inch K-style aluminum gutters on the overwhelming majority of Los Angeles homes with Owens Corning systems, usually .027 or .032 gauge. That matters because a .027 gutter with old-style spike-and-ferrule hangers fails completely differently than a .032 gutter with hidden hangers, and the replacement needs to match the existing downspout size, which in this market is typically 2×3 inches. If you’re staring at a sticker under the gutter or on the downspout elbow, write down the numbers before calling anyone. The most common OEM spec we see in LA is GA 275 aluminum, and a good aftermarket equivalent with the same gauge and coil stock will perform the same. We’re an independent service provider, not an Owens Corning dealer, so we can pull from OEM spec or equivalent without bias.

Signs Your Owens Corning Gutter Replacement Is Failing

  • Water spilling over the front edge during normal rain, not a downpour: This usually means the gutter is undersized for the roof section, or the pitch has flattened over time. On Los Angeles homes with flat or low-slope roofs feeding into a single gutter run, we see this constantly.
  • Staining or green streaks down the fascia board directly under a joint: That’s a failed seal. Aluminum expands and contracts every day in LA’s temperature swings, and after enough cycles the old bead of sealer cracks and water wicks through.
  • Gutter sections sagging between hangers: The hangers have pulled out of the fascia or the aluminum has fatigued. On stucco-sided San Fernando Valley homes, the original installer often used short spikes into dry, brittle wood, and twenty years later the whole run is hanging by one screw.
  • Visible rust or white corrosion powder at the seams or end caps: This is aluminum oxidation, and once it starts at a joint it never stops. The metal is done. Patching it with roof cement buys you a season, not a solution.
  • Downspout pulls away from the wall and water dumps at the foundation line: The straps have failed and the whole downspout assembly shifts. In LA’s clay-heavy soil zones, that concentrated water against the stem wall is how you get settlement cracks.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, a full gutter replacement runs between $8 and $14 per linear foot for 5-inch aluminum in a standard color, which puts most single-story homes at $1,200 to $2,400 depending on linear footage, number of downspouts, and whether the existing fascia board needs repair. Two-story homes push higher because of ladder and safety setup time. Every quote we write includes the new gutter material, new hidden hangers or hanger clips, sealed corners and end caps, downspout reconnection, and disposal of the old metal. The price goes on paper before any work starts, and it does not change at the door. If the old gutters tore out rotten fascia, that repair gets line-itemed separately so you see exactly what you’re paying for. All of it carries a full-year written guarantee, and if a repair or install fails inside that year, we come back at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely do the diagnostic work yourself: walk the gutter line after a rain, check for sag, look at the joints, and note whether water is moving toward the downspouts. What you shouldn’t DIY is working off a ladder at roofline height while handling 10-foot aluminum sections over your head. Aluminum buckles if you breathe on it wrong, and a gutter that kinks during install is a gutter that leaks at the kink. Most Los Angeles gutter failures we replace started as a homeowner repair that held for a season. If you want to look at the project yourself, we’ll talk you through what we’re seeing on the phone and give you a straight number. Call (361) 320-9467 and we’ll get someone out to measure, quote, and put the number in writing before any work starts. Travis Oakley still pulls his own inspections, and he’ll tell you flat-out if a repair is the right call instead of a full replacement. A roof that’s squared away doesn’t need a sales pitch.
