IKO Gutter Replacement: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

IKO gutter replacement in Los Angeles typically runs $850 to $1,650 for a standard single-story home with 120 to 160 linear feet of aluminum or steel gutter, including removal, disposal, and new hangers. Most IKO system replacements we handle are completed in one day. In nearly every case, homeowners find the problem the same way: a section of gutter pulling away from the fascia after a heavy rain, or a rusty seam dripping onto the walkway below.

What most Los Angeles homeowners don’t realize is that IKO doesn’t manufacture gutters directly. IKO is a shingle and roofing materials company. The gutters installed as part of an IKO roofing system are typically third-party components matched to IKO’s specifications, often 5-inch or 6-inch aluminum or galvanized steel profile with IKO-compatible hangers and brackets. That’s where it gets confusing for owners: the gutter itself may say nothing about IKO anywhere on it. The compatibility is in the mounting system and the drip edge integration.

We stock IKO-compatible gutter replacements on our trucks, along with the hangers, brackets, and sealant we need to match your existing roofline. This page tells you what fits, what fails, what it costs, and when you should stop poking at it and make the call.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO shingle lines common across Los Angeles include Cambridge, Dynasty, Nordic, and Royal Estate. All of them integrate with standard 5-inch K-style and 6-inch half-round gutter profiles. What changes between jobs is the drip edge geometry and the condition of the fascia board behind the gutter.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha our techs see all over LA: IKO’s architectural shingle lines have a steeper exposure profile than the older 3-tab styles, which means the shingle overhang at the eave can extend further. If the gutter was originally hung tight to the fascia without accounting for that overhang, water can shoot over the top of the gutter during a heavy January storm. If the original crew used a 4-inch gutter on an IKO architectural roof, it’s undersized. Los Angeles County code and most city amendments call for a minimum 5-inch gutter profile on residential homes with steeper architectural shingle exposure. We flag that on nearly a third of the replacements we bid.

For the IKO-specific part: the hangers matter more than the gutter. IKO-compatible hangers are typically hidden-mount clips that lock into the gutter’s top lip and screw into the fascia at 18 to 24 inch intervals. Older spike-and-ferrule mounting, common on homes built in the 1960s and 1970s in neighborhoods like Northridge and Granada Hills, fails faster in our dry-heat cycle because the wood around the spike expands and contracts, loosening the ferrule. If you see gutter nails backing out, we’re going to recommend a full hanger conversion.

OEM vs aftermarket: Since IKO doesn’t stamp its own gutter line, there’s rarely a factory “IKO gutter” to replace. What we recommend is a quality aftermarket profile from a manufacturer we trust, matched to your existing dimensions and hung with hidden hangers. That’s the honest way to do it without overpaying for a label that never existed.

Brennan Roofing is an independent contractor. We install IKO-compatible components, but we’re not affiliated with IKO. If you carry an IKO shingle warranty, the gutter replacement work doesn’t touch the shingle warranty unless the work modifies the drip edge or starter course.

Signs Your IKO Gutter Replacement Is Failing

  • Water spilling over the front lip during rain. This usually means the gutter is undersized for the roof’s pitch and overhang, or the pitch of the gutter itself is off. We see it constantly on IKO architectural roofs where the exposure is steep and the old gutter was hung too high on the fascia.
  • Sagging sections pulling away from the house. The mounting has failed, not the gutter itself. In Los Angeles, the summer heat bakes the fascia wood around spike-and-ferrule mounts, and once the wood dries out, the spike loses its bite. The gutter starts to tilt, then water stops draining toward the downspouts.
  • Rust streaks or pinhole leaks at the seams. Galvanized steel gutters are prone to this after 8 to 12 years in LA, especially near the coast in areas like Playa del Rey or San Pedro where salt air speeds up corrosion. Aluminum doesn’t rust, but it can crack at the seams from thermal expansion.
  • Water pooling near the foundation or staining the stucco below the eave. That’s the gutter telling you the downspout isn’t carrying water away. Could be a clog, a cracked elbow, or a downspout that’s too small. If the soil around the foundation stays wet through our dry months, that’s a grading and drainage problem, not just a gutter problem.
  • Gutter nails or hanger screws visible on the ground. If the fasteners are backing out, the roof edge is moving. That’s likely decking rot behind the fascia, and a gutter replacement becomes a siding and fascia repair at the same time. We’ve opened up fascia boards in Burbank and Tarzana where the water damage went six inches into the rafter tails.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, expect to pay $850 to $1,650 for a standard IKO-compatible gutter replacement on a one-story home, and $1,400 to $2,600 for a two-story home or a roofline with multiple gables, corners, and downspout runs. Here’s the line-item breakdown so you can see what drives the range:

  • Aluminum seamless gutter, 5-inch K-style: $6 to $11 per linear foot installed.
  • Aluminum seamless gutter, 6-inch half-round: $9 to $14 per linear foot installed.
  • Galvanized steel gutter replacement: $8 to $13 per linear foot installed.
  • Downspout replacement, per 10-foot run: $75 to $160.
  • Old gutter and debris removal: $75 to $180, depending on volume.
  • Fascia board repair or replacement (if rotted): $60 to $120 per 8-foot section.
  • Hanger conversion from spike-and-ferrule to hidden mounts: $3 to $5 per linear foot, often rolled into the install.

Every estimate from Brennan Roofing is written before any work starts. The number on that paper is the number you pay. Our crews bring the gutter, hangers, sealant, and downspout elbows on the truck, not a pile of parts they have to “come back with.” The install includes a full-year guarantee in writing, through the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the gutter fails within that year, we come back at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things from the ground: look for visible sag, pull a hose up to the roof and watch how water moves through the gutter, and check the downspout outlets for blockages. What you shouldn’t do is climb a ladder and start pulling hangers off a second-story eave. By the time a gutter has pulled loose from an IKO roof edge, the fascia behind it may be compromised, and that’s a repair that needs a trained eye and the right fasteners. Working at roof height on a slope is where homeowners get hurt.

If the issue is a loose hanger or a small seam leak, that may be repairable. If the gutter is undersized, the mounts have failed across multiple sections, or the fascia is bad, a full IKO-compatible gutter replacement is the right call. If you’re in Los Angeles and want to know which one applies to your house, call us at (361) 320-9467. We’ll walk the roofline with you and give you a straight answer.

Travis Oakley grew up in the San Fernando Valley and spent enough summers on rooftops as a teenager to know this was going to be his trade. He still pulls his own inspections, and he’ll tell you flat-out if a repair is the right call instead of a full gutter replacement. A roof that’s squared away doesn’t need a sales pitch.
