Tamko Roofing Company in Los Angeles: What to Know First

We’re Brennan Roofing, an independent Tamko service provider in Los Angeles, and we repair, replace, and inspect Tamko roofs across the city. Most Tamko roof repairs we handle are completed in a single visit, and we put the price in writing before any work starts. That means you’ll know exactly what the job costs before a single shingle comes off your roof. If you own a Tamko roof in Los Angeles and something’s not right, call (361) 320-9467 and you’ll get a live person on the line.

This page is for homeowners who have Tamko shingles or roofing products on their house and want a roofing company that actually knows the product. We’re not a faceless call center and we’re not guessing. Travis Oakley, our owner, has pulled his own inspections across Los Angeles County for nearly two decades, and he’ll tell you straight whether a repair is the right call or if you’re looking at a full replacement.

How Tamko Products Fail – and How We Fix Them

Tamko makes solid roofing products. But every roof in Los Angeles eventually shows wear, and Tamko lines have specific patterns we’ve learned to spot before they become leaks. Here’s what we see most often:

  • Heritage shingle granule loss at the eaves. Tamko Heritage shingles hold up well in LA’s UV, but we regularly see heavy granule loss on south-facing slopes, especially on the first three to five courses above the gutter. That’s where reflected heat from the roof edge concentrates. The fix is usually replacing those exposed courses before the underlying asphalt starts cracking. If you wait, you’re looking at decking damage underneath.
  • Titan XT curling on low-slope sections. Titan XT is Tamko’s thicker architectural line, and it’s a good product. But on LA homes where the roof pitch runs shallow – we see a lot of this in the Valley and parts of the Westside – the extra weight and heat absorption causes curling at the corners. It starts as a cosmetic issue and turns into a wind-lift problem. We replace those shingles and often add a better underlayment beneath them, because the original tar paper on older homes has usually degraded by then.
  • Flashing failures at asphalt-to-tile transitions. A lot of LA homes mix Tamko asphalt on the main roof with clay tile accents over porches or entryways. The valley flashing between those two materials is where we find most leaks. Tamko’s own flashing products work fine, but the original installer often used a cheaper aftermarket metal that corrodes in salt air near the coast. We replace it with heavier-gauge galvanized or aluminum step flashing and re-seal the transition properly.
  • Tamko MetalWorks panel seam separation. On Tamko MetalWorks standing seam roofs, the most common failure we see isn’t rust or impact damage – it’s seam separation where the panels were over-driven during installation. The fasteners pull through over time, especially with LA’s temperature swings between summer days and cool nights. That creates gaps that let water through. Our fix involves re-securing the seam with the proper gasketed fasteners and re-caulking, not just smearing sealant over the gap and walking away.
  • Starter strip and drip edge problems on reroofs. When we inspect Tamko roofs that were installed by a previous contractor, a surprising number are missing proper drip edge or have the starter strip nailed incorrectly. This shows up as peeling shingles at the rakes and a wavy look along the gutter line. It’s an installation issue, not a Tamko product defect, but it shortens the roof’s life. We correct it by pulling up the edge courses and reinstalling them over proper drip edge and a correctly placed starter course.

Our Tamko Roofing Company Process

Here’s what happens when you call us about your Tamko roof in Los Angeles:

  1. 1
You call, a person answers. No menu tree, no voicemail. You tell us what’s going on, and we schedule a visit inside a window we’ll actually hit.
  2. 2
We walk the roof. Travis or one of our background-checked, uniformed techs inspects every slope, the flashings, the penetrations, and the decking from the attic side when accessible. We take photos and show you what we’re seeing.
  3. 3
You get a written price. Before any work starts, you have the number on paper. If we find something unexpected after we open up the roof, we stop and talk to you. The price doesn’t move at the door.
  4. 4
We make the repair with the right materials. For Tamko work, we use genuine Tamko parts where warranty coverage or color match matters. Where an aftermarket product performs better for a specific LA condition, we’ll say so and tell you why.
  5. 5
We test the repair. After the fix, we water-test the area where practical and walk you through what we did.
  6. 6
You get the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. Every repair and installation is guaranteed for one full year. If it fails within that period, we return at no charge.

What Tamko Roofing Company Costs in Los Angeles

Roof work in Los Angeles is priced by the job, not by the hour. Here’s what you can expect for common Tamko scenarios:

  • Minor Tamko shingle repair (few missing or curled shingles, small flashing seal): $350 – $750
  • Valley or transition flashing repair on a Tamko roof: $500 – $1,200
  • Granule loss repair with replacement of edge courses: $800 – $1,800 depending on linear footage
  • Full Tamko reroof on a typical Los Angeles home (1,200 – 2,000 sq ft, tear-off and re-install): $11,000 – $22,000 depending on the Tamko line, decking condition, and access
  • Tamko roof inspection with written report and photos: $250 – $450, credited toward the repair if you proceed with us

What moves the price is the condition of the decking underneath, the roof’s slope and access, and whether local code requires additional underlayment. Los Angeles has its own roofing code requirements, and we pull permits when the job requires them. Call (361) 320-9467 for an exact written quote. Estimates are free.

Why Los Angeles Homeowners Call Brennan Roofing for Tamko Work

We operate under what we call The Garrison Standard, and it’s the same on every job: the price goes on paper before any work starts, a background-checked uniformed technician shows up inside the promised window, and every job carries a written one-year guarantee. That’s it. No fine print, no “we’ll see what we find” at the door.

We know Tamko products, but we’re not tied to one brand. We also install and repair GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed lines, so if a Tamko repair doesn’t pencil out and a full reroof in a different manufacturer’s line makes more sense for your budget or roof geometry, we’ll tell you that plainly. A roof that’s squared away doesn’t need a sales pitch.

Travis Oakley grew up in the San Fernando Valley, trained in building construction technology at LA Trade-Tech, and has spent the better part of twenty years on roofs across LA County. He still pulls his own inspections, and if you’ve ever sat next to him at Paty’s in Toluca Lake, you’ve probably heard him talk someone out of a roof they didn’t need.
